Let's Review Shall We?
Are you paying attention America?
This morning, Heather Cox Richardson’s March 28th newsletter covered several topics that are hot in the news cycle. Once again she was able to condense the fire hose stream of non-sense that we all take for the news into digestible bites. Yet, even then, it was almost too much to handle and/or deal with.
As I often do in Substack posts, and in news articles where comments are allowed, I voiced my opinion, and response to, on a couple of topics & comments.
In order they were:
Somehow, someway, I would like to see Musk stripped of his US citizenship and exiled back to South Africa.
This guy is a one-man cancer cell.
Herb Stetzenmeyer Herb’s Substack
It has become evident that the Trump Regime is paying no attention whatsoever to the polls, approval ratings, or even to the concerns of Republican and MAGA voters are voicing at their own Town Halls. The Regime appears oblivious to the concerns of ordinary Americans regarding inflation, Social Security, Medicare, Veterans’ Affairs, or even the equity markets.
This tells me that the Regime has no intention of running for re-election, or of holding any elections at all. It tells me that the Regime plans -- at a time of its own convenience -- to proclaim a National Emergency under which it intends to dispense with the rule of Law and the Constitution altogether. The Regime will claim that Congress is gridlocked by Democrat leftists and the Judiciary undermined by lunatic leftwing judges interfering with domestic and foreign and policy. The Supreme Court will obfuscate in the face of having no way to enforce rulings against the Regime even if it iso inclined.
How else to explain the Regime’s imperviousness?
I couldn't agree more.
The Trump juggernaut is in a position to sweep aside everything and simply
declare themselves the law of the land. So, they can ignore the outrage and
upheavals, the pain and misery, the chaos and uncertainty they are inflicting in the
US and around the world.
All along, Trump has wanted three things:
1) Unbridled authority & power
2) Unlimited money
3) Absolute immunity
He currently has all three. And I blame the cowards of the MAGA Republicans plus the so-called Roberts supreme court for this dire situation.
Just when I think this administration can stoop no lower, they stoop lower. There seems to be no depth limit whatsoever. The entire world is laughing at us, and not because any of this self-emolument is ‘funny’. It’s not just tRumpf. It’s all of us for letting this happen. Maybe WE don’t like it, but WE are complacent. Even if we try to undo the damages and return to sanity, we will never again be trusted or respected. The damage is permanent and pervasive.
The WE of which you speak have few options. And WE are not well organized to
effect any pressure for change. But what if WE were?
What it's going to take is that WE start marching in the streets.
WE will need to start shutting down the economy.
WE will need to maintain a constant pressure and maintain the public spotlight.
And WE will need to speak with one voice.
Organize that and something will break, things would change.
A lot of fingers are being pointed at the Democrats for their lack an ability to push back or do something about the Trump administration. But, since they are outvoted in a congress, where MAGA Republicans constitute a super-majority, they are simply blocked, as they were during the recent CR debate & vote, or ignored or outvoted. We won’t see a change of heart nor an inclination to join Democrats to help preserve, protect, and defend the Constitution unless they are compelled to do so by WE the People.
Remember, this is our government. We consent to be governed by elected representatives. And at a time when our elected representatives have betrayed their oath of office and their commitments to their constituencies it is up to WE the People to act. And we have options as I outlined above.
We are seeing cracks in the MAGA wall. The voices of those angrily attending town halls are resonating in a way they haven’t before. More people demonstrating would add fuel to the fire. And by cutting back on purchasing, in our consumer driven economy, to buy only the needed items from local small businesses, that would send a very clear signal to large business owners and operators. With the stock market nose diving those same business owners would add to the angry outcry. Money talks!
I have predicted in the past that at some point, when Trump has outlasted his usefulness, he would be jettisoned by the wealthy elite that put him in power. Who would be tapped to be his replacement is an unknown. And what the government would look like after Trump is also an unknown. But it would be a start. And with momentum we could begin a course change back to sane and responsible governance and a healing of our social fabric.
Hope springs eternal.
